How to prepare
An MMI is a series of short, timed stations, each with its own interviewer and scenario. The AAMC describes typical MMIs as 6 to 10 stations of about five minutes each, though timing varies by school.3 Practice reading a prompt, deciding your position quickly, and talking through the issue, the people involved, what you’d do and why.
Expect to be asked why The University of Texas at Tyler. Its mission is a good place to start: “to embed the medical school within the community of East Texas, recruit students from the community to serve the community, develop research endeavors that address the specific health issues of our East Texas family and expand access to the highest level of healthcare available.”2 Connect it to something specific you’ve done.
