How to prepare

A traditional interview is a conversation about your background, your motivation for medicine and your experiences. For questions that start with “tell me about a time,” the AAMC recommends the STAR method: the situation, the task, the action you took and the result, with one situation per answer.3

Expect to be asked why University of Utah. Its mission is a good place to start: “The Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah serves all people and communities of Utah and the Mountain West by intentionally working to improve individual and community health outcomes and quality of life.”4 Connect it to something specific you’ve done.
