Degree

Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (BMedSci/MD); direct entry (school-leaver, 5 years, Clayton) and graduate entry (4 years, Monash Rural Health Churchill/Gippsland) both lead to the same MD award.

Prerequisites

  • VCE Units 3/4: English (EAL 35+ or non-EAL 30+) and Chemistry (30+), or IB/other equivalents (direct entry only)
  • Graduate entry: bachelor's degree with significant and broad biomedical science content (for example Pharmacology, Physiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Microbiology or Genetics)

GPA

Minimum 6 (7.0). Domestic graduate-entry selection uses a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70+ in an eligible Monash degree (100-point scale, not a 7-point GPA); international graduate-entry applicants require a minimum GPA of 6.0 out of 7.0.

MCAT

No MCATApplicants will NOT be required to undertake the GAMSAT; international graduate-entry applicants are also not required to undertake the MCAT or GAMSAT. Neither test is used at all for Monash's graduate entry.

How selection works

Direct entry (domestic): academic prerequisites/ATAR (33.3%) + UCAT ANZ (33.3%) + MMI interview (33.3%), interview invitation based on UCAT ANZ or a combination of UCAT ANZ and ATAR. Graduate entry (domestic): WAM in an eligible Monash degree (40%) + MMI interview (60%), interview invitation based on WAM; no GAMSAT. International direct entry: Year 12 equivalent (33.3%) + ISAT (33.3%) + MMI (33.3%). International graduate entry: GPA (40%) + MMI (60%); no MCAT/GAMSAT.
