Degree

Doctor of Medicine (MD), graduate entry (CRICOS code: 079216J).

Prerequisites

  • No prerequisite subjects; a Biomedical Science undergraduate degree is not a requirement for entry to the MD. A Foundation Knowledge Course is available on enrolment to cover assumed knowledge in anatomy, physiology and molecular/cellular biology.

GPA

Minimum 5 (7.0). Domestic standard applicants: minimum GPA 5 (7-point scale) as calculated by UAC (QAS) as of a fixed date each cycle. Domestic rural applicants: minimum GPA 4.5/7. International: minimum GPA 5/7 as calculated by the University (approx. 2.7/4 US/Canada, 3.3/5 Singapore, Lower Second class UK). Degrees completed more than 10 years before 1 January of the entry year need additional recent study or the facilitated-entry exception.

MCAT

No MCATMCAT is only accepted as an alternative to GAMSAT for international applicants (minimum total 500 for 2027 entry); domestic applicants use GAMSAT only.

How selection works

Eligibility screen (degree, GPA threshold, test minimums, English), then ranking on admissions test section scores (plus any additional criteria), then eligible applicants complete an online confirmation page (confirm GPA, select place/stream preferences), then offers in rank order by place type. Metropolitan (Sydney) stream: no interview for standard applicants. Dubbo stream: personal statement plus possible interview contributes to final ranking. International: some applicants may be required to attend an interview, selected on admissions test results.
