Personal Activities (Employment; Teamwork, Collaboration & Leadership; Volunteer Work; Life Experience & Achievements: 1-4 entries each, 325 characters, all verified by a named verifier) · Personal Highlights: 3 mandatory questions (top two achievements, 750 characters each; challenge, 2000 characters; significant experience, 1500 characters) · Two references (standardized questionnaire, not letters; due at application deadline) · Official transcripts · MCAT Self Declaration form · Declaration of Alberta Residency (if claiming AB residency) · Rural written submission (rural pathway) · Indigenous personal statement + notarized proof of ancestry (Indigenous pathway) · Statement on Black Identity Declaration (BAAP) · English Language Proficiency / Spoken English Language Proficiency (ELP/SEP) requirement, if applicable

How selection works

cGPA and MCAT are checked against thresholds; Personal Activities are scored by three independent reviewers; interview selection uses cGPA, MCAT and Personal Activities; after the MMI, interview scores and references are considered and a rank score is built from the published weights. Rural applicants also do a Rural Panel Interview; Indigenous applicants are recommended by the Indigenous Admissions Subcommittee.

Where official sources disagree

  • pools.alberta.seats: MD admissions site and AFMC 2027 say 85% Alberta / 15% non-Alberta for Fall 2027 entry (90/10 from Fall 2028); the 2026-2027 University Calendar already says 90% / 10%.
  • pools.rural.seats: Rural applicants page says 30 positions reserved over and above regular offers; Calendar and AFMC say up to thirty positions within quota.
  • timeline.Deadline: School dates page says October 2, 2026 1:00 PM MT; AFMC 2027 says October 1, 2026 (marked update not available yet).
