Degree

Bachelor's degree from a university recognized by the University of Manitoba, completed no later than June 30 of the entry year (June 30, 2027 for 2027 entry)

Prerequisites

  • 3-credit-hour undergraduate Indigenous course with minimum grade of 'C' (from the approved Indigenous course list or externally assessed; normally 80%+ Indigenous content and 50%+ readings/sources by Indigenous authors); final grade on official transcript by the November 1 documentation deadline

GPA

Minimum 3.3 (U of Manitoba 4.5 (AGPA)). Adjusted GPA over all graded undergraduate degree-level courses completed by the application deadline, any year, including spring/summer, part-time, extended education, repeated courses (initial and all subsequent grades) and second degrees; IB/AP included if official transcripts submitted. Excludes graduate courses, pass/fail grades and courses completed after the deadline. Lowest grades dropped if 90+ undergraduate credit hours completed (max 30): 90-95 hrs -> 15 dropped; 96-101 -> 18; 102-107 -> 21; 108-113 -> 24; 114-119 -> 27; 120+ -> 30. Prerequisite course (highest-graded 3 credit hours) cannot be dropped. First program of study can be eliminated on request if there is a five-year gap and none of its coursework counts toward the second program. No full-time course-load requirement stated.

How selection works

Eligible applicants in the Manitoba and out-of-province pools are ranked within their pool on a standardized composite multiplied by rural, advanced academic and diversity coefficients; all eligible Indigenous pool applicants are interviewed; a passing MMI score is required, then final ranking uses the post-interview composite, while Indigenous pool offers follow a holistic subcommittee review.
