Requirements

Degree

At least 3 years of full-time study (5 courses per term) in a program leading to a bachelor's degree, completed with final grades by June 30, 2027; a year with 4 courses per term counts if missing courses are made up; a CEGEP/college diploma counts as 1 year; remote/online full-time study is not recognized for the full-time requirement.

Prerequisites

  • 6 units humanities/social sciences (no second-language courses)
  • 6 units biology (anatomy and physiology accepted)
  • 3 units organic chemistry
  • 3 units general chemistry
  • 3 units biochemistry
  • 3 units statistics
  • 6 units of the science courses must include an on-site laboratory component

GPA

Minimum 3.5 (OMSAS 4.0). Cumulative GPA (CGPA) over the most recent 3 years of full-time undergraduate study toward a bachelor's degree (fall/winter plus spring/summer courses in that period, except abroad); each year needs at least 4 graded courses per term; years with exchange terms abroad and graduate grades excluded; repeated courses both count; current-year grades not in the initial calculation; no year-based weighting is described.

MCAT

No MCATThe MCAT is not an admission requirement.

Casper

Not required

Also required

Early-phase MMI instead of Casper: asynchronous recorded video on Acuity Insights (about 1 hour 15 minutes, 8 stations plus a rest station), taken in the language of the chosen stream on October 16, 18 or 19, 2026; its score counts toward interview invitations · Autobiographical Sketch with top 3 activities per category (max 18) · 3 Confidential Assessment Forms (academic/employment, non-academic, any) · Panel interview · Must function orally and in writing in the chosen language of instruction; francophone-stream applicants are also assessed in English, and a language test may be requested

How selection works

After an initial review of full-time status, prerequisites, CGPA (minimum 3.50 over the last three full-time years), citizenship and completion of the asynchronous early-phase MMI (which uOttawa uses instead of Casper, taken in the stream's language), the ABS is scored and references verified; interview invitations come from a rank-order list built on CGPA, early-phase MMI score and ABS score, with about 70% of seats reserved for regional candidates, and offers follow a rank-order list based primarily on the interview.
