CaRMS keeps a separate list for the IMG stream, which includes McGill anesthesiology and diagnostic radiology, Queen’s orthopedic surgery, Alberta orthopedic surgery and public health, Sherbrooke pediatrics, and diagnostic radiology at Montréal, UBC, Ottawa and Toronto.3
Test dates and how scores are sent
CaRMS listed three Casper sessions for the first iteration: September 24 and October 15, 2026 in English, and November 5, 2026 in English and French.4
Acuity says “Casper scores are automatically sent to CaRMS,” but “you must then manually upload your Casper score to each CaRMS program that requires it.”5 If you take the test for Round 1, the same results are used for Round 2.6
Questions
Do I need to retake Casper for the second iteration?
Acuity says that if you complete the Canadian Postgraduate Medical Education Casper test for CaRMS Round 1, the same results are also used for Round 2.
Do US residency programs use Casper?
We couldn’t confirm any US residency program requiring Casper for 2027 from an official source, so check each program directly.
