How to prepare

An MMI is a series of short, timed stations, each with its own interviewer and scenario. The AAMC describes typical MMIs as 6 to 10 stations of about five minutes each, though timing varies by school.5 Practice reading a prompt, deciding your position quickly, and talking through the issue, the people involved, what you’d do and why.

A panel interview means several interviewers at once.5 Answer the whole panel, not just the person who asked, and ground your answers in specific examples from your own experience.

For a virtual interview, the AAMC recommends a computer or tablet over a phone, with the camera at eye level.6

Expect to be asked why Queen's University. Its mission is a good place to start: “We aspire to be leaders in training future physicians who foster outstanding interprofessional care and challenge the norms of care delivery to effectively serve our region.”2 Connect it to something specific you’ve done.
